Washrooms with Open Plan Access
School washrooms with open plan access areas are increasingly popular as they can be more easily supervised by passing staff. This can help minimise bullying. In this case cubicle doors would be full height for maximum privacy. This arrangement can also be used to create a gender neutral facility that offers flexibility for maximum pupil inclusion.
Of course, we understand that open plan facilities are not always feasible or desirable. Klick can still create spaces that hugely improve and benefit the school. We offer a range of specifications, including separate Male & Female facilities that ensure your space works as effectively as possible, creating a bright and clean environment.
We appreciate the demands on school managers and our comprehensive service allows us to support you through all the stages of the project.

Quality Washroom Materials can help with cleaning
Good cleaning and maintenance of the washroom facilities is crucial. It is best to opt for quality materials such as solid grade laminate which will withstand regular cleaning. Our integrated plumbing systems with concealed pipes have easy access for maintenance operatives and help to keep the space pristine.
Important considerations to improve hygiene
- Reduce touchpoints by having sensor operated taps, soap dispensers, hand dryers and toilet flushes to limit the spread of germs.
Sustainability
- Low flush cisterns and sensor operated taps may be used to conserve water
- A rainwater harvesting system may also be implemented to save water with the added benefit of reducing the school’s expenditure
- Energy saving light fittings should be used
As part of our service we can install changing room lockers for the storage of students’ personal items.

Accessibility
Washrooms must be suitable, comfortable and accessible for everyone. In order to meet the requirements of accessibility legislation, it is important to note every cluster of toilets must include a wheelchair-accessible cubicle. Where appropriate ambulant cubicles should be provided for disabled users who are able to walk. There must be at least one ambulant cubicle per washroom.
